Özet
Mehmed Necmeddin Okyay Hoca Efendi çocukluğundan itibaren güzel sanatlara ilgi duymuştur. Döneminin önde gelen ebrû üstâdı Özbekler Tekkesi şeyhi Edhem Efendi ile Hat üstâdı Sâmi Efendi’nin öğrencisi olup icazet almıştır. Çiçekli ebruyu ilk defa o denemiş ve güzel eserler meydana getirmiştir. Bu yüzden çiçekli ve yazılı ebru Necemeddin Ebrûsu olarak meşhur olmuştur. O, sosyal ve kültürel hayatla barışık, geleneksel Türk-İslâm Sanatlarına vâkıf geniş ufuklu bir görev adamıdır. Cemâl-i ilahiyi hat ve ebrû sanatlarında kağıda yansıtarak kaybolmaya başlayan ebru sanatına yeniden hayat vermiştir. Üsküdar’daki tasavvuf kültüründen aldığı ilhamla, “Allah güzeldir, güzelliği sever” hadisinin ışığında estetik zevki zirveye taşımıştır.

Abstract
Mehmed Necmeddin Okyay was interested in fine arts since his childhood. He was one of the students of “Özbekler Tekkesi şeyhi” Edhem Efendi, one of the important marbling experts in his term and calligraphy expert Sami efendi. He was the first who tried marbling with flowers and he made (created) good Works. So marbling with flowers and writings known as Necmeddin marbling. He is reconciled with social and cultural environment, and he has the command on Türk-İslâm arts. By reflecting cemali ilahi (chant) to the paper in marbling and calligraphy arts he gave life (prospered) to the marbling again. With the inspiration he got from the sufizm culture in Üsküdar, under the light of the “The GOd is beautiful, and loves beauty” saying of the God, he carried the estetical taste to the peak.
