THE SOUL – SELF JIHAD IN AHMED ZÃYAÃœDDÃN GÃœMÃœÃHANEVÃ
According to Sufi understanding the soul is the source of good and the self is the source of evil. When the angels inspire
taqwa into the heart, the devils inspire evilness and the devils want the heart to misdo continually. According to Ahmed Ziyaüddin
Gümüþhanevî the soul which is in a a costant struggle with self is curtained (concealed) in various forms of substance. When one of
these curtain is opened, a window is opened to the soul from its real universe. The soul starts to enlightenment and transparency with
the light seeping through this window. When all the curtains are opened the soul becomes divine light from the ground up. Therefore
we have focused on the nature of soul and self, and the importance of recognizing self in the struggle against self with the ways and
