Abstract


Abu'l-Qāsim al-Junayd ibn Muhammad al-Khazzāz al-Qawariri (d. 297/909), who lived in Baghdad in the third century of the hijra, is a founding figure who immensely contributed to the essence, framework, and principles of Sufism (taṣawwuf ) in the formation of the period of the field. His central place in the history of Sufism, richness ve deepness in his views, and his impacts felt throughout the Sufism history elevate him to the leading and guide position not only in his contemporary era but also in the entire history of Islam. This study examines the century Junayd al- Baghdādī lived, his life, works, masters, disciples, and Sūfī milieu also discusses his place and influence in the Baghdād School of Sufism. Junayd al-Baghdādi's sufistic views and the subjects of Tawhīd (oneness of God), fanā (passing away) - baqā' (subsistence), mīthāq (primordial covenant), maḥabba (divine love), sukr (intoxication) - ṣaḥw (sobriety), mā'rifah (knowledge) in particular are attempted to be discussed holistically.
